El Gouna Beverages is founded in April 1999 by Samih Sawiris as a subsidiary of Orascom Development Holding as the first independent privately-owned wine and beer maker in Egypt, with a mission to deliver quality products to its local market.

Obelisque wine and Sakara beer are launched.

The company acquires a public sector spirits company in Alexandria along with the brands Zotos and Bolonachi.

The company is sold to Al Ahram Beverages Company for EGP 255 million.

EgyBev is established with the same ambition as its predecessor. It launches Shahrazade, targeting mainstream consumers, and Jardin du Nil, a premium wine that would go on to win 5 global awards.

A range of beers is also launched under the brand name Luxor.

The Beausoleil d' Egypte range of wines are launched.

Luxor beer is sold to Al Ahram Beverages Company.

A strategic partnership is established with Nationbuilders Capital Partners, a private equity firm based in the UK.

XO wine is launched.

A varierty of mainstream and premium spirits is launched under the brand name Diablo and other brand names that will be revealed soon.

A full range of sanitizers is developed in record time under the brand name Safe to support the community against Covid-19.

Yanni spirits range 1 liter is launched.

A new spirits range 250 ml is launched.
